Chill Out Time Again



         News just breaking that the "Steampunks In Springtime" event which was destined to be staged by The Cornish Steampunks this weekend is off. Not sure if that is due to the impending bad weather forecast for The South West or other reasons. A sad loss all the same.

       The cancellation leaves BB with the long drive for just the one show now. This is on Friday night in Ilfracombe.

       An excellent opportunity though to catch BB playing with the delights of Lord Montague Jaques Fromage and his "Steampunk Funk Bizarre" in a UK one off.

       The show is at "The Chill Bar" on Fore Street in the centre of town and gets under way at 8pm.

       Next weekend BB are back in Derbyshire for a gig at The George and Dragon, Bridge Street in Belper on Friday the 17th.

       That kicks off a busy weekend, with Saturday constituting another jaunt to The South West for "The Frome Steampunk Extravaganza".

        This is a new event being staged at The Cheese and Grain in Frome's town centre, a building built in 1874, with the original use as a cheese and grain exchange.

        The event hosts a daytime market running from 10am until 3pm. There will also be no less than four Steampunk authors on hand during the day and a tea duelling contest.

       At 6.30pm the emphasis moves to the stage and a great line up with BB, the "chap hop" of Professor Elemental, the punkier overtones of The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing and the mellower mood of Sunday Driver along with The Dulcie Demure Burlesque Show and Muriel Lavender, Burlesque style poetrix.

       A rush back up for Sunday's slot at Bearded Theory Festival, Kedleston Hall near Derby. More about this one next week, when we should have timings available.

    Hope you managed to catch Dale's slot on vbnavradio last night, a really good relaxed interview, interspersed with a good helping of classic and new BB tunes.   So Thanks to vbnavradio for that. School's Out For Summer!

             Oh Yes, it's time for that institution known simply as "Rock and Blues". It has been around in a few different guises for over a quarter of a century now. Reaching it's zenith in the early part of this new millennium when numbers were around the 30,000 mark.            This years event will see only about 10% of those crowd figures, which going by last year's event makes for a nice compact site and a great friendly atmosphere. Another plus is that the Derbyshire weather looks set to make it even hotter than last year.            BB's slot is on The Platform 15 outdoor stage at 1.40pm on the Saturday afternoon and will involve dancers. Metropolis are also forming part of this Steampunk slot. And Life Goes On (You Know It Aint Easy)

      Well firstly, wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, a year bereft of Olympics or Jubilees, how will we fill our days? I feel sure we will all cope. It already looks a great year for live music events on varying scales of grandeuer, lets hope the weather has made a resolution,to smile a little more.       February brings us the Year Of The Snake, indeed to be precise, The Water Snake, noted as quite motivated and intellectual, very determined and resolute about success. So here's to hoping.       One last mention of snakes, this time in human form, to those who saw fit in the early hours of Saturday the 22nd of December, to break into the BB mobile and remove all from within.
