No Sleep Till Hamburg(smith)







The pictures are from the green screen competition held earlier in the year and are currently being used to promote shows in Germany.

             Excellent reports coming back from the festival in Arnhem of a great reception and thanks once again to one and all who made the band feel so welcome.

          Just a brief recap

      Tuesday 13th Chill Bar Palenke, Kiel
      Wednesday 14th-Hexenkessel, Oldenburg In Holstein
      Thursday 15th-Alten Zum alten Zolln, Lubeck
      Friday 16th-Cafe Coma, Bad Segebeg

and a final stopover for a private party in Hamburg on Saturday before the long haul back to Derbyshire and a little respite. Only the one gig planned for the following weekend at home town Belper's, George And Dragon.

     As the band are playing The palenke in Kiel on Tuesday, here is a resurrection of a local media item from a previous visit there in February of 2008.

      Could not have said it better today!

      Up until that point BB had played more in Germany than the UK and you may or may not be aware the band was conceived there, somewhere in the first half of 2007.

      Legend has, that Stefan Bekker being given some studio time for his birthday, invited Dale back to Germany, where they had met previously to see what could be achieved with 2 basses and drums(enter Axel stage left). The rest as they say is history.

     However. not one feels, a particularly well documented history. So when the chaps return home we will endeavour to throw some illuminations on these shrouded beginings, marrying personnal recollection to the bits of exsisting archive and hopefully recount the truth, some of the truth and possibly nothing like the truth, as part the next blog or two.

    Hope you managed to catch Dale's slot on vbnavradio last night, a really good relaxed interview, interspersed with a good helping of classic and new BB tunes.   So Thanks to vbnavradio for that. School's Out For Summer!

             Oh Yes, it's time for that institution known simply as "Rock and Blues". It has been around in a few different guises for over a quarter of a century now. Reaching it's zenith in the early part of this new millennium when numbers were around the 30,000 mark.            This years event will see only about 10% of those crowd figures, which going by last year's event makes for a nice compact site and a great friendly atmosphere. Another plus is that the Derbyshire weather looks set to make it even hotter than last year.            BB's slot is on The Platform 15 outdoor stage at 1.40pm on the Saturday afternoon and will involve dancers. Metropolis are also forming part of this Steampunk slot. And Life Goes On (You Know It Aint Easy)

      Well firstly, wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, a year bereft of Olympics or Jubilees, how will we fill our days? I feel sure we will all cope. It already looks a great year for live music events on varying scales of grandeuer, lets hope the weather has made a resolution,to smile a little more.       February brings us the Year Of The Snake, indeed to be precise, The Water Snake, noted as quite motivated and intellectual, very determined and resolute about success. So here's to hoping.       One last mention of snakes, this time in human form, to those who saw fit in the early hours of Saturday the 22nd of December, to break into the BB mobile and remove all from within. Two drum kits, the basses, sound system, even the songbook, Demolitia's personnal dance items, merchandising and more.
