A Night In The Workhouse(Including a Pilgrimage to Bristol and a Masonic Meet in Northants)

    Well, fair to say that Steampunks made a huge splash in The Bath last weekend, creating great interest in their splendid presence, from the local community and tourists arriving for The Illuminations alike.

     So a boundless thanks to the artists, artisans, engineers, imagineers, traders, helpers, venues and indeed to the endeavours of one and all who contributed to the wonderful success of this inaugural event.

     What a pleasure to see the doors of The Pavilion open once again. Unsure of final figures at this juncture however a descent contribution from the events proceeds, should be available to aid in restoring the building to it's former glories.

      Lots of great comments and fantastic pictures abound on facebook to check out. In answer to the question will there be more, yes certainly same time next year and maybe The Steampunk Solstice moving there in June. Also the possibility exsists of an early return next February for an event of a slightly different complexion.
     

      More immediately, this weekend see's BB on the road again. As early as Thursday night they will be appearing at The Pilgrim Inn, on Hollywood Road, in the Brislington suburb of Bristol, a first chance for Bristolians to see the band, the 178 bus service to Bath passes through Brislington from the centre of Bristol and Temple Meads rail station and late returns are possible courtesy of the N4 sevice.

     Friday night there will be a free performance at The Workhouse in Llanfyllin, Powys, the venue with which, an accord was struck back in August for "The Phoenix Rising event".

    The show is the band's contribution to "A Work Party Weekend" entertaining volunteers prior to a day of restoration work on the building.      Another long journey east on Saturday, for The BBMobile into Northants. where a show is scheduled at The Masons Arms in Thrapston, which is situated on Huntingdon Road in the town.
Thrapston, which is not readily served by public transport in the evenings lies midway between Kettering and Huntingdon, just off junctions 12/13 of the A14.

And Life Goes On (You Know It Aint Easy)

      Well firstly, wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, a year bereft of Olympics or Jubilees, how will we fill our days? I feel sure we will all cope. It already looks a great year for live music events on varying scales of grandeuer, lets hope the weather has made a resolution,to smile a little more.       February brings us the Year Of The Snake, indeed to be precise, The Water Snake, noted as quite motivated and intellectual, very determined and resolute about success. School's Out For Summer!

             Oh Yes, it's time for that institution known simply as "Rock and Blues". It has been around in a few different guises for over a quarter of a century now. Reaching it's zenith in the early part of this new millennium when numbers were around the 30,000 mark.            This years event will see only about 10% of those crowd figures, which going by last year's event makes for a nice compact site and a great friendly atmosphere. Another plus is that the Derbyshire weather looks set to make it even hotter than last year.            BB's slot is on The Platform 15 outdoor stage at 1.40pm on the Saturday afternoon and will involve dancers. Metropolis are also forming part of this Steampunk slot.
