The Tale Of The Snooty Fox And The BB Blackdog


   At last. To the filmed event at The Snooty Fox in Wakefield, Brunswick Street, just off Kirkgate, on Friday.The first steampunk event of the year that BB Blackdog are involved with. The first of many.

   The very welcome support for the evening comes from Gladstone, a five piece hailing from Northampton.

   The entire proceedings will be available as it happens via livestream and the band have been filming additional footage to augment the live show material, with a view to a new video release.

   So to all you steampunks and indeed anyone interested in the concept. If you have not made arrangements, then may i suggest a stop over in the fair West Riding. I know the Travelodge on Lower Warrengate, only a short walk up Kirkgate from the venue, has a contingent of steampunks staying and when i last perused their site, still had double rooms available at under thirty guineas. So why not abandon the carriage, quaff an ale or two and shake those goggles on down.

   The band play one more gig this weekend and whilst being a fairly small venue, The Brewery Tap in Derby makes for a splendidly mellow early Sunday evening show. The band play upstairs at the superbly well restored venue,one of only three pubs owned by Derby Brewery.The Tap is handily located on Derwent Street, five minutes stroll from the main bus station.

   Just a word or two in retrospect regarding last weeks activities. Whilst a little disappointment at bowing out in the Sound Hub semi, this was soon forgotten with progress in two other, more significant competitions.

   On Friday, the band were really well received on their maiden trip to Leicester and won heat two of The Music First Promotions competition. So a much anticipated return to The Shed venue for the semi in May.

   Also over the weekend the band progressed to the live show stage of " Live and Unsigned" , a national event featuring many luminary partners and judges, an IndigoO2 final and Sky TV filming for a post competition series.

   Year Of The BB Blackdog?.......Just Might Be!

And Life Goes On (You Know It Aint Easy)

      Well firstly, wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, a year bereft of Olympics or Jubilees, how will we fill our days? I feel sure we will all cope. It already looks a great year for live music events on varying scales of grandeuer, lets hope the weather has made a resolution,to smile a little more.       February brings us the Year Of The Snake, indeed to be precise, The Water Snake, noted as quite motivated and intellectual, very determined and resolute about success. So here's to hoping.       One last mention of snakes, this time in human form, to those who saw fit in the early hours of Saturday the 22nd of December, to break into the BB mobile and remove all from within. School's Out For Summer!

             Oh Yes, it's time for that institution known simply as "Rock and Blues". It has been around in a few different guises for over a quarter of a century now. Reaching it's zenith in the early part of this new millennium when numbers were around the 30,000 mark.            This years event will see only about 10% of those crowd figures, which going by last year's event makes for a nice compact site and a great friendly atmosphere. Another plus is that the Derbyshire weather looks set to make it even hotter than last year.            BB's slot is on The Platform 15 outdoor stage at 1.40pm on the Saturday afternoon and will involve dancers. Metropolis are also forming part of this Steampunk slot.
